Just an essay I had to write for college. Nothing special to be honest. I just like to post my work on this web site. Here’s the info and the link to the PDF file for it.

Topic: An individual assignment for my first year Management course in Organizational Behavior at HKUST that cites a newspaper article about the effects of the economic crisis on a particular family in the United States.

Next semester, I’ll be home

Us local students at HKUST usually only get 1 semester for living in the dorms because space is limited (only 1/3 of the undergrad student body lives on campus) and we obviously don’t need it as much as the international and mainland students. Skipping right to the point, I’ll be living at home next semester, sitting behind this very desk:

My Desk

I’ve debated with a number of friends why living at home while going to college could possibly be better than living in the dorms. I’ve come to the conclusion that I won’t really know until a few weeks into semester. But I do know that I will be on public transport for about 3 hours of the day, will get better food at home, won’t have to worry about laundry, but won’t be around my friends for anywhere near as long.

But then again, that could be considered a good thing considering how I really need to pull up my grades. Contrary to my friends’ beliefs there really are less distractions for me here at home then on campus.

Oh and yes, I get to sleep and wake up at a decent hour, go to the sauna/gym/swimming pool/bunch of other amenities in the complex club whenever I want and be with the family cat.

Win? I’m sure many will disagree. Living in the dorms this fall semester was a lot of fun, but let’s see what it’s like at home before jumping to any conclusions…

Sony MDR-EX85SL Earphones

Bought myself a pair of these today for HKD200 (25 USD) and I must say it was a well made purchase. Definitely a nice change from the stock iPod earphones I’ve been listening through for the past few months. Well to be honest I have a pair of studio Sony ‘phones but they are in no way portable and are going to end up serving as the output from my guitar amp in the duration that I am learning to play. I’m not exactly excited about pissing off my neighbors with my amazing note scaling skills. Sony MDR-EX85SL

The in-ear earphones are interesting in that the in-ear piece is attached to a normal earphone piece so you get “double” the sound or so the guy who sold it to me said. This actually makes for a much more comfortable fit than most traditional in-ear earphones (never exactly tried Shures though). The most impressive thing for me personally is the bass on these things.

Let’s just hope that they don’t go bad in the next few months/years as the warranty is only valid in Japan.

Back to accounting… (I hate my life)
