Online Nothing Like Offline

I have succeeded in playing FIFA 07 online after months of not being able to figure out why it wasn’t working. Apparently the patch I had to download for the game to work online was for the “Nordic English” version of the game. I have no idea why EA would ship Nordic versions of the game to Hong Kong, rather than making an “Asia Pacific” version for this part of Asia and including English as the only language. Beats me, really.

So I was happy and I got my account everything and started playing right away. The online system is buggy of course and lag was an issue in a couple of games (but I think that’s still because of that earthquake). The people that play online are generally better than me at the game which explains only one win so far and the rest of my endeavors ending up as losses or draws. But I think playing this way against real opponents will make me better at the game than just playing against the computer, which I can even sometimes beat at World Class difficulty level (this year it’s much easier than in 06).

I must admit I have gotten frustrated a number of times because I lose (mostly due to the lag) but then again, it’s just a game and some good clean fun.
