Korea Trip 2006

I finally got the time to write this up and post pictures (between exams). So anyway, from December 17 to 22 me and my family went skiing in YongPyong Resort in Pyongcheng, South Korea. The last time (and first time) that I skied was 2 years ago in Phoenix Park somewhere in Korea. That time was when I learned the basics and this time I skied around but didn’t learn much new stuff just got more experience.

After a four hour flight, another 4 hour long busride we were finally at the resort. The first day we came it snowed like crazy and it was really difficult skiing in fresh deep snow. The second day and the following were perfect and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Besides that the skiing was nothing special really, but the food was just awesome. Every morning we got a buffet breakfast in the resort and every evening we got a great buffet dinner with some kind of performance following the food. This is all subsidized greatly by the Korean Tourism Organization’s “Fun Ski Festival” for Southeast Asian countries hence the cheap price for everything including hotel stay, ski and lift rental, food, airplane tickets, a one night visit to a spa resort in Icheon and bus transportation everywhere. I’m not really in the mood or want to write a really long entry describing every single day and what we did so I’ll just skip over to the pictures (after the break). Enjoy.

Me. Skiing. The skiing boots make my legs look weird, I know.

Living in Los Angeles gets boring when there is no snow in the winter. I envy your contact with the white gold!!

Seriously though, nice to know you had some fun out there. And I see your letting your hair grow. Looks Groovy.

Looks like an amazing place to visit, I don’t know If I would be willing to go to SK with everything the NK has been doing recently.

Yeah Mike, I’m letting my hair grow and it’s quite long now. Tom, let’s just hope North Korea doesn’t decide to nuke ski resorts but it is quite worrisome.

Nice picture, specially the one with you in the gigantic boots! Skiing must be fun may be I should have a trip to Korea sometime too! But at the same time, it looks as if it is freezing cold out there – at least its what my friends in Korea say!
