Tall. Taller. Tallest…

Skyscrapers are starting to become freakishly tall (I already live on the 69th floor here in Hong Kong), just check out this sucker they’re building in the United Arab Emirates, it’s crazy!

Online Nothing Like Offline

I have succeeded in playing FIFA 07 online after months of not being able to figure out why it wasn’t working. Apparently the patch I had to download for the game to work online was for the “Nordic English” version of the game. I have no idea why EA would ship Nordic versions of the game to Hong Kong, rather than making an “Asia Pacific” version for this part of Asia and including English as the only language. Beats me, really.

So I was happy and I got my account everything and started playing right away. The online system is buggy of course and lag was an issue in a couple of games (but I think that’s still because of that earthquake). The people that play online are generally better than me at the game which explains only one win so far and the rest of my endeavors ending up as losses or draws. But I think playing this way against real opponents will make me better at the game than just playing against the computer, which I can even sometimes beat at World Class difficulty level (this year it’s much easier than in 06).

I must admit I have gotten frustrated a number of times because I lose (mostly due to the lag) but then again, it’s just a game and some good clean fun.

Korea Trip 2006

I finally got the time to write this up and post pictures (between exams). So anyway, from December 17 to 22 me and my family went skiing in YongPyong Resort in Pyongcheng, South Korea. The last time (and first time) that I skied was 2 years ago in Phoenix Park somewhere in Korea. That time was when I learned the basics and this time I skied around but didn’t learn much new stuff just got more experience.

After a four hour flight, another 4 hour long busride we were finally at the resort. The first day we came it snowed like crazy and it was really difficult skiing in fresh deep snow. The second day and the following were perfect and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Besides that the skiing was nothing special really, but the food was just awesome. Every morning we got a buffet breakfast in the resort and every evening we got a great buffet dinner with some kind of performance following the food. This is all subsidized greatly by the Korean Tourism Organization’s “Fun Ski Festival” for Southeast Asian countries hence the cheap price for everything including hotel stay, ski and lift rental, food, airplane tickets, a one night visit to a spa resort in Icheon and bus transportation everywhere. I’m not really in the mood or want to write a really long entry describing every single day and what we did so I’ll just skip over to the pictures (after the break). Enjoy.

Happy New Year

2006 seemed to go by so fast and it doesn’t feel like I did that much really and it’s already 2007. Today was my first day of school and we’re having exams again (which is not a good thing). I’ve got AP World History and English on Thursday and Honors Physics on Friday. I’ll be finishing my exams on Tuesday with AP Calculus and have no exams or school until the following Monday. That’s nice, although the whole time all everyone will be doing is worrying about how they did.

On a happier note, I found out that I got a 92 percentile on PSAT, not that anyone really cares about the PSAT anyway. Supposedly, according to my school counselor, this is the highest in the school this year (which isn’t that hard to achieve since something like 90% of the people in my school aren’t native English speakers and some are not very good at all.

Korea post still coming, I’m having a hard time with Flickr because of the quake. Anyway, Happy New Year and have fun.
