Well France against Italy in the World Cup Final this year was one hell of a close game. I was hoping France would win but the penalty shootout was as close as it could get. The funny thing is that a few days before the actualy game I played France against Italy in FIFA 06 on my PC and after 90 minutes the score was 1-1, in overtime it remained that way and it went into penalties. France won on penalties 4-3 in my game but lost 5-3 in the real match. Neither Buffon nor Barthez could actually save any goals it’s just that Trezeguet’s penalty kick hit the crossbar and unlike Zidane’s penalty in the 7th minute didn’t go past the line to make it a goal. But before the penalties even started, in overtime I was surprised at what happened with Zinedine Zidane. Him and Marco Materazzi got into some kind of argument and right when Zidane seemed to be walking away, he turned around and head-butted Materazzi in the chest who subsequently fell down to the ground. The referee did not see this at first but when he found out he showed the Zidane the red card. I think this was quite a sad ending to Zidane’s carreer as he is completely retiring from professional football after this World Cup. Oh well, shit happens but I can’t stop to wonder what Materazzi could have said to infuriate Zidane so much. I’m guessing now that it had something to do with Zidane’s Algerian heritage.
UPDATE: I visited Wikipedia and got some more information on what Materazzi said to Zidane:
Reportedly, the deaf forensic lip-reader Jessica Rees was employed to analyze the video sequences with the help of an Italian translator. According to these reports, Materazzi spoke in Italian – a language understood by Zidane due to his time spent with Juventus F.C. – and first told him: “Hold on, wait, that one’s not for a nigger like you.” As the players walked forward, Materazzi allegedly said: “We all know you are the son of a terrorist whore.” Then, just before the headbutt, he was seen saying: “So just fuck off.” According to Brazilian TV Rede Globo, a lip-reader claimed that Materazzi twice called Zidane’s sister a prostitute. Earlier claims about Materazzi having called his opponent a “dirty terrorist” have been denied by Materazzi, who reportedly said: “It is absolutely not true, I did not call him a terrorist. I’m ignorant. I don’t even know what the word means.”
So this morning I was to vacuum the house. I started out in the first bedroom and before even a minute has passed, I’ve sucked up a sock that was lying around. I’m like no problem, turn off the vacuum, open it, take out the vacuum dust bag (or whatever it’s called) but the sock isn’t there. Shit. So then I detach the long pipe (again I don’t know the anatomy of a vacuum cleaner so please bare with me) and what I see is the sock stuck at the very end of pipe near where it is inserted into the vacuum cleaner itself. Unfortunately, the opening decreases in size when it reaches this end and the sock is stuck too far from reach of my hand. Although I have an extremely skinny hand it’s just no skinny enough. Well that sucks but I had to get that damn sock out. So I tried connecting the pipe again and turning it on but the sock wouldn’t budge and I was afraid I’d break the vacuum cleaner or something because it wasn’t sucking well. I thought about getting some really long object to try and push the sock out the way it came in and then realized I have nothing that long since a tape-measure just wouldn’t do. I felt stumped.
And then I realized just how stupid I had been. I could try sucking the sock out by sticking the pipe the other way in. Obviously the other end didn’t fit into the hole in the vacuum cleaner but I tried as best I could. It worked – sort of. I now had the sock in the other end of the pipe but still a tad too far from my hand’s reach. So I go into the bathroom and get a pair of tweezers and tug the sock out. Phew, what a relief. Anyway, I better go back to vacuuming now. Sorry for boring you with something so silly but this may help you if you ever have such an experience when you’re vacuuming.

Well that looks fun doesn’t it? It’s going to be a hard year but I think a more enjoyable one than those previous because I don’t have Mandarin anymore, my constant D subject. I’m good at English, History and Computers and I enjoy Math so I’m guessing PE and Physics will be my tougher classes but on paper it all seems easy. I guess we’ll just see what it actually turns out to be like.
I’m trying to achieve something new with the K2 theme for WordPress. I want to make my site extremely minimalist but also versatile and user-friendly at the same time. I’m trying to make the site as simple as possible with few images, simple colors and flow. It will probably take me some time to achieve what I want but I’m doing this because I got tired of my Invader inspired theme and want to go for something different. We’ll see how it works out but please bear with me as I’m doing this live and some things might not work at times.
