Something Better Coming Soon

I am currently in the process of making V2, the major redesign of this website. It will take a long time, many revisions, some new things added, some old things removed and it will require a lot of work. The theme will be based off of the structure of K2 but will have many elements changed. The design for V2 is inspired by Invader, Binary Bonsai’s new theme, the Microsoft Codename Max website and other beautiful websites I’ve seen all over the web. This will be a live design and as I have said will take a long time so wait for it.

I really want to know how he did the flat bevel transparency…I would like to create something using that (obviously not invader-copy) If you find out, let me/us know! I always like basing things off past sites but I always feel i’m copying.

I actually sort of figures out how to do that through experimentation. I used Adobe Photoshop. Here are the steps:

    1. Make a new document big enough for you to fit the text and the reflection
    2. Make a new text layer and type in your text
    3. Right click on the layer in the Layers pane and select Rasterize Layer
    4. Right click on the layer in the Layers pane and select Duplicate Layer and name it reflection or whatever you want
    5. Go to Edit, Transform, Flip Vertical
    6. Move the reflection layer down until it’s just beneath the original layer
    7. In the Layers pane, select the reflection layer, select the Add a Layer style and then click on Gradient Overlay
    8. Mess around there until you have the bottom blending into the background and the top matching the color of the original layer
    9. Set the Opacity of the reflection layer until it’s something you like. I use between 10-20%
    10. Save and enjoy

If you need help just ask me here and I’ll explain in a clearer way. Good luck.
